Backgammon is the oldest known game in recorded history. Also known as the "wee war," backgammon began in Mesopotamia (now called Iraq) approximately 5 millennia ago. In any case, Egyptians referred to backgammon as "Senat," which was a close type of the present game played at this time. Hundreds of years ago, only men and women of power, the prevailing figures of aristocracy like Egyptian pharaohs, were allowed to enjoy. The game started to grow worldwide since then. Backgammon and other old games weren’t ever acknowledged by a lot of faiths. The churchgoers believe that the game was the tool of Satan. This caused churches to banish and burn the game. The abolishment and burning did not prevent many people betting on games and being entertained.
Computers afford a new arena for Backgammon.
