The goal of a Backgammon match is to move your checkers around the Backgammon board and get them from the game board faster than your competitor who works harder to do the same buthowever they move in the opposite direction. Winning a game of Backgammon requires both tactics and fortune. Just how far you can shift your checkers is up to the numbers from rolling a pair of dice, and just how you shift your checkers are determined by your overall gambling plans. Players use different tactics in the different stages of a match dependent on your positions and opponent’s.

The Running Game Technique

The goal of the Running Game technique is to entice all your chips into your inner board and bear them off as quickly as you can. This plan concentrates on the speed of moving your checkers with little or no time spent to hit or barricade your opponent’s pieces. The ideal scenario to use this plan is when you think you can move your own chips faster than your opponent does: when 1) you have a fewer checkers on the board; 2) all your checkers have moved beyond your competitor’s pieces; or 3) your opponent doesn’t employ the hitting or blocking strategy.

The Blocking Game Strategy

The primary aim of the blocking strategy, by the title, is to block your opponent’s checkers, temporarily, while not fretting about moving your checkers quickly. Once you’ve established the barrier for the opponent’s movement with a couple of chips, you can shift your other pieces rapidly from the board. The player will need to also have an apparent strategy when to withdraw and shift the checkers that you used for blocking. The game gets intriguing when your opposition utilizes the same blocking technique.
