Backgammon its History – Today and Before

Backgammon is the oldest game in recorded history. It has been known as the "little war," backgammon started in ancient middle east over 5 millennia ago. However, Egyptians referred to backgammon as "Senat," which was a similar form of the current game played today. Centuries ago, only men and women of power, the ruling figures of aristocracy like Egyptian pharaohs, were permitted to play. The game started to grow worldwide since then. Distinctive Backgammon variants have been developed in several territories and societies, but the basic regulations of those versions appear those of the ancient form . For instance, Greece took hold of the game and called it by the title "bac gamen." From there, the English adopted backgammon in the 1600’s and have remained with it ever since. Backgammon and competing archaic games were not ever welcomed by most faiths. The churches felt that the game was the tool of Beelzebub. This led churches to blacklist and destroy the game. The abolishment and burning did not stop many people gambling on games and having fun.
Computers make available an additional arena for Backgammon.
