The Essential Basics of Backgammon Game Plans – Part One
by Karla on September 22nd, 2015
The aim of a Backgammon match is to move your checkers around the Backgammon board and get those pieces from the game board quicker than your competitor who works harder to attempt the same buthowever they move in the opposing direction. Succeeding in a round of Backgammon requires both tactics and good luck. How far you will be able to shift your pieces is left to the numbers from tossing the dice, and how you move your pieces are determined by your overall playing strategies. Players use different plans in the different stages of a match depending on your positions and opponent’s.
The Running Game Technique
The goal of the Running Game strategy is to entice all your pieces into your home board and bear them off as quick as you could. This technique concentrates on the pace of moving your chips with little or no time spent to hit or barricade your competitor’s chips. The best scenario to use this technique is when you believe you can shift your own chips a lot faster than your opposition does: when 1) you have less pieces on the board; 2) all your chips have moved beyond your competitor’s chips; or 3) your opponent doesn’t use the hitting or blocking technique.
The Blocking Game Plan
The primary aim of the blocking technique, by its name, is to stop your opponent’s checkers, temporarily, not worrying about shifting your chips rapidly. Once you’ve created the barrier for the opponent’s movement with a few chips, you can move your other chips rapidly from the board. You really should also have a good strategy when to back off and shift the checkers that you utilized for blocking. The game gets interesting when the opposition uses the same blocking strategy.
